Kachina
Dolls
One
of the components of a strong art program
is to provide opportunities for the
students to make connections between
art, self, and cultures by integrating
art with other subject areas.
As
our third grade students study Native
American culture in social studies,
we coordinate art activities that enhance
the learning experience. We learn about
the Hopi Kachina Dolls and create drawings
with oil pastels as well as small sculptures
utilizing wire armatures and pariscraft.
