The Social Studies program nourishes and fosters principles and values, help students to learn the rules and responsibilities that work in tandem in a just society. The curriculum also helps students to recognize the importance of economic, geographic relationships, history and the richness of human diversity. In an increasing order of complexity, thinking skills are emphasized starting in the primary grades with brainstorming, observing, listening, labeling and expanding in the fifth grade to researching, comparing, contrasting, relating, and analyzing.
